Hearth Farm
Hearth Farm is a small farm run by Grange owners Sarah and Luke where they raise pigs and grow tree fruit, perennial and annual vegetables, herbs and flowers. All Hearth harvests go straight into the Grange’s seasonal dishes.
Hearth Farm is part row crop operation, part permaculture garden, part overgrown native wilderness. It is a little edible Eden, a tapestry of plants and trees that feed birds, bees, bats, bugs and humans too.
Farm-to-Table-to-Farm
Hearth Farm's soil is alive and made robust through copious amounts of vermicompost: worm poop! Black Gold, made from daily buckets of Grange kitchen waste and every Grange guest’s paper dinner napkin. All this gets thrown into Sarah’s 4 huge worm bins as food and bedding. Her worm menagerie will gradually chew through it and make the world’s healthiest manure for farm crops, keeping the circle unbroken.
Hearth Farm tours will be happening in 2024, the Year of the FARM! Join us on the fourth Saturday of the month during the summer! Check out our Events page to see more information and to get directions to the farm.
