SUMMARY:Duvall Dark Stars
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special FREE live music event organized by Bill Roman\, featuring musicians with ties to Duvall\, past and present\, that you may not know well as they tend to hide in recording studios. Lucky for us\, they occasionally come out to perform! \nJerry Stalder is a songwriter\, singer\, and multi-instrumentalist who lived somewhere in the hills north of Cherry Valley back in the ’80s. Through an unlikely but fortunate chain of musical acquaintances he met Duvall’s somewhat notorious bass player Bill Roman\, who at the time lived in a cabin near Lake Margaret. That cabin was the scene of a lot of songwriting and home recording. Jerry has since moved back to where he grew up in eastern Washington\, and has continued writing\, performing\, and recording. He and Bill have maintained their musical association over the years and across the miles\, and are finally getting together as a duo to perform some of Jerry’s old and newer songs as well as a few covers from artists as diverse as Neil Young and Led Zeppelin.\n\n\nRick Ravenscroft is a singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist who lived just across the valley from Duvall in the ’70s and hasn’t strayed too far away since then. Inspired by friends he began playing guitar\, singing and writing and has been improving these skills ever since. With influences such as the Grateful Dead\, Bob Dylan\, and Gram Parsons\, he writes beautifully crafted songs full of love\, longing\, hope\, and the joys and sorrows of living.\n\nRick has been playing with his current trio for over two decades. It began with amazing pianist Steve Berman\, who has played with Rick for even longer than that. Bill Roman encountered Rick through strange synchronicity in the early years of this century\, wandering into the old P&G Speakeasy Cafe during off hours and finding no one in there but the owner Paula and Rick playing guitar and singing for her with the hope of booking a gig. He got the gig – and a bass player. They will be playing some of Rick’s more recent songs that will be on his forthcoming CD\, and probably some of the group’s favorite covers.\n\n\nFree and open to all ages!

SUMMARY:Wine Tasting for the Holidays
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Andy Ruggles from The Winemakers Reserve shares local wines made at Woodinville Custom Crush by Matt Loso. Find the perfect wines for your holiday celebrations! \nThe Winemakers Reserve is a family owned and operated winery\, located in the West Valley of Woodinville\, Washington Wine Country. Owner and Winemaking Director\, Matthew Loso (read his story below)\, founded The Winemakers Reserve in 2017. A state-of-the-art winemaking facility offering production from grape to bottle to premium winemakers\, as well as a beautiful winery\, tasting room\, and event space. It is the only one of its kind in Western Washington. \nOur wines are crafted and processed by our talented winemaking team\, guided by best winemaking practices and procedures developed by our Winemaking Director\, Matthew Loso. All grapes are grown and picked to spec at a variety of the finest vineyards in Washington State. They are then trucked in and processed using state-of-the-art equipment\, while still practicing old wine processes and procedures. \nWe are excited to share these wines with you and hope you enjoy them as much as we did crafting them! \nhttps://www.thewinemakersreserve.com/ \n\nMatt’s story – \n\n\nWith over 30 years in the wine industry\, Matthew has established himself as a world-renowned Washington winemaker\, receiving many awards and accolades along the way. The founder of the acclaimed Matthews Cellars\, Matthew has now turned his attention to the creation of The Winemakers Reserve and his personal creative outlet\, Matteo Wines. \nHis love for wine was kindled at a young age\, propelling him to the position of Cellarmaster and Winemaker at a small Woodinville winery in 1992. The inaugural release of Matthews Cellars in 1993 saw its first vintage completely sell out within 30 days! By 1997\, Matthews Cellars had firmly established itself as one of Washington State’s most respected wineries. \nAfter parting ways with Matthews Cellars in 2008\, Matthew introduced Woodinville’s “Woodinville Custom Wines”\, better known as “The Winemakers Reserve”. The sprawling 40\,000 sq ft facility features a meticulously designed Cellar room complete with cutting edge tanks and state-of-the-art winemaking equipment. \nMatthew and his wife Zoie own and operate The Winemakers Reserve and Woodinville Custom Wines\, and you may see their children (Jordan\, Matteo and Kate) there working from time to time. \nMatthew’s enduring vision has always been to craft the finest quality Washington Wines\, as well as bring the best wines from around the world to our local community. \n\n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a festive evening of holiday tunes and so much more! Doors open at 5:00\, music 6-7:30. Free and family friendly! Reservations recommended\, call 425-788-2095. \nBlue Moon Jazz is a live jazz guitar and vocal group ft. Ksenia Darouze on vocals\, Jeff Coult on 7 string guitar\, and Karen Coult on jazz manouche guitar.  The song selection and delivery aims to evoke joy and lightness while getting us all in the festive mood. It’s an invitation to daydreaming\, finger snapping\, toe tapping\, a reminder of romance and connection of hearts.  The music performance is enhanced with charming vocal stage presence and live looping techniques resulting in an engaging and dynamic listening and visual experience!  \nKsenia Darouze is a lifelong singer who spent her youth performing many genres with a traveling choir. After moving to the U.S.\, she spent a number of years singing with local women’s choirs until finally deciding to pursue her passion for jazz music. For the past several years\, she’s been working with Greta Matassa\, a well-known jazz vocalist and educator in the area. “I feel so humble to have an opportunity to study jazz from Greta and her amazing band members. She has so much to give.” Ksenia draws her inspiration from the Golden Age of Jazz.  \nJeff Coult is a long time musician and multi-instrumentalist who has toured extensively in the US and abroad in his earlier years.  He has played professionally in many genres over the years from Rock to Symphonic and currently offers private music instruction through “Inspire Music Duvall”.  Jeff has been involved with a number of bands which draw songs and inspiration from American Jazz\, Jazz Manouche\, Americana and Brazilian styling\, and enjoys expanding his playlist through various jams and collaborations.   \nKaren Coult got her start playing guitar as a child with her Dad’s band.  She launched into gypsy jazz jamming and performing with Jeff about 10 years ago\, and has performed at numerous locations including Djangofest Northwest with the Lulu Swing band\, and locally with Cascade Stringswing and Byron Street Swing. \nhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/19VEnssUfrOlL4RM4FoKB3rrXoAGRvyQw/view

SUMMARY:Grange 100th Birthday Celebration continues: Silver Spoon Cookies!
DESCRIPTION:This month\, as part of our yearlong celebration for the Grange Hall’s 100th year\, we are honoring the Silver Spoon Restaurant. This beloved Duvall restaurant that was housed in the Grange Hall from 1977-1982\, and owned at the time by Donna Waddington and Ed Beeson\, was known for it’s “glorious grub…especially the pastries\, they will never be forgotten. Like bears around a honeypot\, lunch time around the Silver Spoon was a picnic of pleasure for its patrons and even though the Spoon changed hands a number of times\, the recipes generously went along.”* \nTaste a little bit of history as each week in March brings a different cookie straight out of the original Silver Spoon Restaurant cookbook\, made with love by our Grange baker extraordinaire\, Faith! \nWeek of 3/4: Orange Oatmeal Cookies \nWeek of 3/11: Molasses Cookies \nWeek of 3/18: Peanut Butter Cookies \nWeek of 3/25: Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip \n*Quote from Denny Redmond in the Forward to the Silver Spoon Restaurant cookbook. Thank you to Donna Waddington for writing the Silver Spoon Restaurant cookbook and preserving these treasured recipes!
